Some of us love it, some of us loathe it. It depends on your opinion... Yes valentines day is just around the corner and with the "Hallmark Holiday" Coming up you may feel under increased pressure to spend your hard earned cash on flowers, chocolates, expensive dinners etc, or you may feel like it is single persons awareness day! I do like Mexico's celebration of February 14th though. It is Día del amor y la amistad, meaning the day of love and friendship. So on that note I thought I would share some things that I have fallen in love with here in the Riviera Maya, the home we call paradise! Be it from snorkeling under water, sailing, or witnessing beautiful acts of friendship and love, we hope this blog makes you all feel good!
Fall in love underwater!
Here are some beautiful picture of things here underwater love you can fall in love with!
Green Sea Turtle
Fall in love with the green sea turtle! The green sea turtle eats sea grass and jelly fish.
A random fact is like other sea turtles the Green Sea Turtle can not pull it's head into it's shell!
Although there are around 200 different stingray species, we frequently see 4 types of sting ray while snorkeling with Local Quickies here in the Riviera Maya! The Southern sting ray, the Whip Tail (Caribbean) Ray, Yellow Ray and the beautiful but kind of rare Spotted Eagle Ray (Captain Quickies personal favorite!)
Most stingrays swim through the ocean by undulating their bodies in a wave-like motion. Others will flap their sides up and down, giving them the appearance of “flying” through the ocean like a bird. Most you see while snorkeling are hiding in the sand of the ocean floor. Very elegant and gentle. The only real danger is when you step on them, they go into defense mode!
Although we do not have nemo here in the Rivera Maya we do have Dory! The Blue Tang is commonly seen along side Sargent Majors, grunts, snappers and parrot fish.
Fun fact about a blue tang! At night blue tangs display white vertical stripes!
Fall in love while Sailing!
We could not let February go by and not re share a beautiful proposal that happened at sea!
Sailing is so beautiful you can not help but fall in love with the ocean! Or on the ocean!
Falling in love at Local Quickies
We have had a few love stories we could share and tell, but one we really wanted to give our love and best wishes to are 2 of our former Local Quickie guides. Kayla and Logan met right outside our Local Quickies office in Puerto Aventuras Summer 2012. They guided for us for a season and they both fell in love! Kayla and Logan have just got married so we would like to wish them all the best for the future! And I am sure you will too!
If you want to tie the knot in the same location as Kayla and Logan let us know! This beautiful spot is perfect for Weddings.
Let us know in the comments if you fell in love with anything or any one here in the Riviera Maya on a Local Quickies tour!
